Riobaldo Press
Voices across borders.
Official Launch –
Welcome
Riobaldo is the wandering narrator of Grande Sertão: Veredas, the masterpiece of Brazilian literature by João Guimarães Rosa. His name evokes questions, doubts, and the eternal search for meaning. It embodies movement, dialogue, and the courage to cross unknown paths.
At Riobaldo Press, we believe literature is itself a crossing. A way of moving between cultures, of listening to other voices, of inhabiting worlds beyond our own.
We were born from the conviction that stories must travel. That the best of world literature — whether from the Amazon, the Balkans, the Middle East, or the islands of the Pacific — deserves to be read in English, with the same force and beauty as in its original language.
Our catalogue is shaped by diversity: authors who illuminate hidden geographies, challenge dominant narratives, and open doors to empathy. Voices from different continents, languages, and traditions, each carrying its own light into a global conversation.
In short: the very best of contemporary world literature, translated into English for the first time. Books that move, provoke, and connect us — across borders, across languages, across lives.
Resonant Voices
We seek voices that resonate beyond borders. Voices that carry the weight of a culture, the rhythm of a language, the pulse of a community. These are the stories we want to share — narratives that question, illuminate, and connect. At Riobaldo Press, authors are not just part of our catalogue; they are at the center of our mission, because their journeys are as compelling as their books.
Our Translators
Translation is the bridge that makes these encounters possible. We work hand in hand with translators whose craft transforms not only words but also worlds. They are co-creators, carrying across the subtleties, silences, and music of each language, so that every book remains true to its original heartbeat while gaining new life in English.
